    Laura’s tip of the day

Tin Foil. Use it to store your cheese block in after it’s been opened. It works sooo much better than saran wrap or ziploc bags or whatever. Plastic (ie Saran wrap or ziplocs) trap and/or create moisture, which sucks for cheese. We’ve been doing this for a bit and for some reason has come up in conversation a few times in the last couple of days so I thought I’d tell everyone that yes, I use tin foil on my cheese. And it’s something you should convert to. So there you have it folks. It’s out there.

    Baking…Christmas Baking

I’m going to be baking today and that excites me. I don’t know what exactly I’m going to make and what I’m going to do with it all, but I have to. It’s what I do. I’m sadly not going to be able to give it to friends and family like I did last year, which sucks.  I love to share my baking. I guess we are going to have a freezer full of baked goods. Do you know what else is going to be really different this Christmas? I can’t find a fresh turkey here in the Hat. They are all frozen. I’ve never used a frozen turkey ever…

And you will like it! lol I will blog more about our trip this past weekend to Fairmont, BC but right now I have to figure out how I’m going to share all the pictures I want to share…. But I will say that this past weekend was just what we needed. It was beautiful. Relaxing. Completely carefree. We didn’t think or worry about work…

    Thanksgiving Sunday

So it’s Sunday…Thanksgiving to be exact. And I’m in Alberta. It’s going to be different. This time last year I was cooking up a storm for J, Mom, Greg, and Elaine. This year I cooked up a storm for Tanya and friends. I didn’t do much baking because Tanya was baking a lot but I couldn’t do nothing. So I baked some homemade pull-apart rolls. Cranberry sauce. Caramilk Fudge. And Snickerdoodles. I’ll post my rolls recipe soon enough. I also brought with me some of Nan’s pickles and the chow I made last year. So I definitely didn’t come empty handed. I also made Gram’s stuffing this morning and did…
