Another new month

So it’s been a few days yet again and now a new month has begun. A new beginning. A new school year. I’m looking forward to see what it has in store.

Surely it will be better than the last week. I had an orientation and got a few shifts. Some longer than others. However, the third and final one did not do well for me. Of course it was the longest shift. I was feeling off and very physically exhausted. But I had a full nights sleep but I was exhausted. Pure and simple. I came down with the flu. 🙁

I came home from work and went to take a nap to see if I could “sleep it off” but I awoke enough to know John had been home for a few hours, the welcome lady had been here, and it was dark out. I talked for a second or two and watched a bit of the Dog and then crawled to bed. I didn’t get up until 10:30ish the next morning.

So my nap turned into a 16 hour power snooze.

But I still didn’t wake up feeling better.

I lounged all day and popped gravol as soon as the label said I could as I had to go into work after hours to set up my classroom. I enlisted John for my muscle and complementary brain, as mine wasn’t working at full capacity. So after 2.5 hours the classroom was rearranged and cleaned up to the best I could. It was hard being new and not knowing where anything is and the person who shares the room with me was on vacation. But we managed. I couldn’t have done it without the help of one co-worker in particular…she was awesome and very helpful.

We postponed our plans for the long weekend to go to Calgary as well because I was so tired and wasn’t 100% until just recently. We opted to go in the next couple of weeks. By then we’ll be settled into a routine and know all the facts and where we stand. It’ll be nice to be a fulltime contributing factor once again.

The weather was crap (for once) for the weekend. It’s rained today and yesterday making it 3, maybe 4 days, total all summer that it rained. But of course, it had to be on the last weekend I had before working. A long weekend I could have spent outside with John. Instead we stayed in and baked and cooked and cleaned. We managed to get out and grab our groceries for the next 2 weeks and for me to go shopping. I couldn’t really find anything except a shirt. Everything else I might have considered didn’t come in my size or my colour or I was an in-between size. Oh you know, the usual.

So there you have it folks. There is this past week in a nutshell…
