Chocolate Icing
I’ve never made chocolate icing before but I attempted it for John’s birthday. The recipe turned out awesome and very easy to spread on the cake!
8-9 tbsp. Cocoa
1/4 c. hard margarine/butter (melted)
2 c. approx. Icing Sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. hot water1. Sift/Mix Cocoa and icing sugar.
2. Add salt, vanilla, melted butter. Add water slowly to desired consistency and taste

Found this cake recipe in a google search.
It’s very good, quick and easy even for someone who sucks at making icing. 😀
For mine, I only put in 4 tbsp of cocoa, and added an extra 1/4c of icing sugar for a lighter, almost milk chocolate taste.

So simple and quick! Very thankful I found this 🙂 As usual I jumped right into it without reading the instructions through completely so I ended up having to add some flour to thicken it up! Very tasty though, just like betty crocker but without all the crap and chemicals! Thanks so much.

Great recipe! I think it would be perfect for brownies! I used an extra 1.5 cups of icing sugar, used half the water, and the remainder of liquid, i used 10% cream. I used more melted butter then required as well. I whipped it with an electric beater. This was the perfect amount to frost a 2 layar cake! Thank you!! 🙂

I Googled “Chocolate Icing” recipes – I was looking for a chocolate icing for my daughter’s birthday cupcakes for her class. Everything I found, the chocolate had to be melted on the stove. I wasn’t in the mood for that, LOL! Then I found your recipe. It was perfect and I gave it a try. I ended up adding too much water, so I added extra icing sugar. The end result tasted like the chocolate icing on a Boston Cream donut! LOL, I ate two while I was spreading the icing on the rest! It was perfect! Thank you!

Yum! This frosting was delicious! I only used about an 1/8th of a cup of water in order to reach the desired consistency. Thanks for the recipe – I’ll be using it again.

Very Very Very Yummy. This icing tastes amazing on vanilla cupcakes. I put 3 1/2 cups of icing sugar to give it a little bit of a lighter taste! But all in all two tumbs up! **way up**

I love this icing! I’m not usually one to make icing from scratch (shh don’t tell!), but this one was super easy – and really tasty. I didn’t find it too sweet like a lot of icings/frosting. I substituted soy milk for the hot water, which made it really creamy 🙂
Amanda
I love this frosting…made it and then mixed in a tub of whip cream….iced a 2 layer cake and added rolo chocolates on the top for decoration. Happy birthday Dad!
Jillian
This was super tasty. I added too much hot water so it was sortof more like a thick glaze than a frosting but now that I know, I won’t make the same mistake again. And I’ll definitely use this again. Now I just need to find a good chocolate cake recipe!
