And the green grass grew all around, all around
The green grass grew all around! So it’s been just about 3 weeks since our back breaking labour of laying topsoil and sod. And the grass has taken off. It has a mind of it’s own! It could have….should have…been cut last weekend but John wanted to wait so here we are. It’s ridiculously long. But the length helps keep in the moisture which is a necessity since it hardly ever rains here. It’ll help keep our water bill down. I’m afraid to get the water bill for last month….ack! But it paid off and our lawn flourishes. It’s a beautiful deep green and growing like a weed. J mowed…

Funny how things change
You know what!? I never used to care for geraniums. I don’t know why. Just didn’t. I always thought of them as an “old lady” flower. Probably since that was one of the main staples in my Gram’s gardens and pots. But since starting my own garden I’ve learned there is more to Geraniums than just the standard white and red and bright pink. This one if my favourite. I don’t remember what the name of this one is but it’s white (duh!) with dark pink streaks. It’s great. It’s my favourite. And of course when I went back to get 1 more they had none. So I had to…

Home for a Rest
I took it upon myself to “tell” John that he must learn ‘Home for a Rest’. I don’t know why after all these years I just think now that he should learn it. It has a great intro and it would be a great campfire song if you ask me. hehe But he’s been plucking away for a couple days now and it’s coming along nicely. It is music tome my ears. I’m actually sitting here right now listening to the boob-tube and him work away at the solo. He’s got the timing now and it’s just a matter of remembering it all. It’s a lot of notes to do…

Mmmmm
I came home from work and *had* to make this. Doesn’t help that the Cortland apples I brought back from NS are going to go bad soon and you can’t buy Cortland apples in AB. Well, at least this part of Alberta. But man oh man, I just loved it. I only have 3 apples left now. Booo! But that’s what I do when I’m homesick. Bake. Makes me feel even better when it’s somehow connected to back home. Takes some of the heaviness out of my heart or whatever it is you want to call it. Makes me feel happy. Food makes me feel happy. Baking makes me forget. …

Fire in the Sky
Medicine Hat had the best fireworks I have seen a very, very long time! It was great. The drive home…not so much. Slow. Lots of traffic and people who don’t know how to drive in it. But I slept so it was all good. But I rather enjoy fireworks so it was all worth it. I took so many pictures but this is just one of the many. I was drawn to it today. Not sure why this one but I was. Me loves it.
