On this day

One year ago today we were happy and as carefree as parents can be with 4 kids on a Ferry crossing the Northumberland. Unknowing this would be the last family photo we would take that would include Noah.

Oh how my heart breaks looking at this but at the same time brings joy.

A year ago seems like forever ago now. It feels like forever since we felt that joy and unique chaos of our old life. Our “before” life. This accidental photo is our last of that “before.” We were just going to take a photo of the kids when a stranger approached us and said we must take a photo that includes us parents. I’ll be forever grateful of this offer from a complete stranger giving me now one of my greatest possessions.

A beautiful reminder of the day my kids had their first ferry crossing, first visit to PEI, a stop at the Freak Lunchbox and for Cows Ice Cream, their first drive over Confederation Bridge to Grammy & Grampy’s house.

Who would have realized then we were at the end of borrowed time and all that is left of him are photographs and memories.

I don’t think this is what they meant the saying “these were the days” is for but those were definitely the days…
