Best. Show. Ever.

I’ve spent a good part of my 27 years waiting on this day. The day I see Metallica. Live. In full view of my two eyes. It couldn’t have gotten any better. Ok, it could have been better had I not had to have peeled it from work straight to the ‘dome and if I bought tickets to the show the next night. But who’s counting.

I wanted to post as soon as I got back but it was late and I was exhausted. Plus, I wasn’t at my house and I was waiting on my downloads of the show so I could make a cool slide show with the live tunes I’ve heard. But I can’t wait any longer. I guess there is a technical difficulty with our show so I can’t download. The next nights is available but not ours. Man, isn’t that just my luck. Oh well, I’ll keep waiting.

Ok, back on track.

Metallica.

Fan-frickin’-tastic!

The huge enmax jumbo-tron thing definitely worked to our advantage. I don’t know if you remember my huge rant months ago when I bought tickets, about the “best available” tickets that we had to buy. Well, it worked out to our advantage that’s for sure. Ok, because of that big ugly enmax screen thing the stage couldn’t be “in the round” like it typically should be. It couldn’t be in the centre because the screen is stationary unlike most other arenas so the stage was put to the end. Might I add, our end. And it wasn’t exactly centred on the “ice surface” either. It was skewed for some reason, but no complaints here. It allowed like 6 or 7 rows of floor people and then row 1 of seats and then us in row 2. So there were about 8 rows between us and the stage and I had an assigned seat. Not that I sat in it at all but whatever, I didn’t have to fight over a spot or worry about getting a body surfer kicking me in the head. I was eye level with the band. They look out and see me. Ok, you get the idea. Just a pinch higher than the floor people right on par with the stage. Perfect height.

I just couldn’t believe I was finally there. Finally getting to see Metallica. I lost out once because of bad luck but not this time. So when the lights finally dimmed and I heard an old Metallica song playing to build excitement then started the lazer/light show.

Holy crap, I had died and gone to heaven.

They came out and didn’t stop playing for 2.5 hours. The show was over at 11:45 and I was voiceless and tired but would do it again in an instant.

Here is the setlist I got to enjoy! 🙂 No Hero but I didn’t expect to hear it because they never play it. But it would have been sweet.

That Was Just Your Life
The End Of The Line
Creeping Death
Harvester Of Sorrow
One
Broken, Beat And Scarred
Cyanide
Sad But True
…And Justice For All
Wherever I May Roam
The Day That Never Comes
Master Of Puppets
Fight Fire With Fire
Nothing Else Matters
Enter Sandman
– – – – – – – –
Last Caress
Breadfan (I guess this one is a treat and only gets broken out a few times a tour)
Seek and Destroy

So I was in heaven. Pure bliss.

Who needs a seat?

Who needs a voice?

Who needs their ears to stop ringing?

Certainly not me.

We didn’t dare try to sneak our camera in. Good thing too because there was a big pile of confiscated ones. If I had our old camera I would have given it a go but we didn’t. And for some reason we didn’t take my cell phone, we only took Johns to take some pictures with. Mine takes better pics but for some reason we didn’t take it. I’d share pics with you from his camera phone but we can’t get it to connect to the PC to take them off. So pics taken by the Metallica people will have to do.

I can’t even begin to convey my excitement. It lasted for days. It is even coming back now as I lay on the couch and reminisce about last Thursday.

I almost came back with a ball that drops from the ceiling during their last song but I didn’t get one. A guy in front of me got like 3 of them but he was a Mac truck. I couldn’t compete. However, I did come home with some souvenirs of my own.

Check this shit out.

That’s right folks. 6 picks from Kirk and James. Pretty damn sweet. You’re jealous aren’t you?!

So I could go on and on about this for days but I must stop. There is the update you all have been waiting for. Now you can sleep soundly knowing about my Metallica experience and how awesome it was.
